Regain access to your CRA account without having to call
If you are locked out or have lost access to your multi-factor authentication device, the CRA offers self-serve recovery paths so you can restore access without calling. Links here open local help topics only.
When signing in to your CRA account, you will be prompted to add a backup multi-factor authentication option if you do not already have one. Users will have the option to skip this step during tax filing season.
You may have recently received an email notification from the CRA. For faster and more reliable service, we are encouraging CRA account users to change their correspondence preference from paper to electronic mail. This helps ensure you receive important communications securely and on time, avoiding delays caused by postal disruptions or natural disasters.
