Permanent Resident Card

Your Permanent Resident (PR) Card is proof of your status in Canada. You must carry a valid card when travelling outside Canada and returning by commercial carrier. Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) issues and renews this document.

Biographic details

Name on card: Mercier, Alexandre Jean. Sex: M. Height: 178 cm. Eye colour: BRN.

Card status and dates

Issuer: Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada. Card status: Active. Card number (masked): PR•••••9182. Date issued: 2023-03-15. Expiry date: 2028-03-14.

The UCI is an internal client number used on IRCC forms. UCI (masked): 040•••••82.

Renewal and travel

Apply to renew your PR Card before it expires if you plan to travel. Processing times vary. If your card expires while you are inside Canada, you remain a permanent resident, but you may need a Permanent Resident Travel Document to return if you leave without a valid card. Always check the latest guidance on Canada.ca before making travel plans.

Photo integrity (training metadata)

This mock record includes a checksum reference for the card photo: sha256:9f86d081884c7d659a2feaa0c55ad015a3bf4f1b2b0b822cd15d6c15b0f00a08. Production systems would protect such forensic metadata behind operator roles; it is shown here only to discuss tamper detection in class.

Permanent resident card — travel, renewal, and status

The PR card is chiefly proof for airlines and other carriers that you may board a flight to Canada. It is not a substitute for a passport from your country of nationality, and it is not proof of Canadian citizenship.

Renew before expiry if you plan to travel; a card that expires while you are abroad can complicate return logistics even when your status in Canada remains valid.

Residency obligations and in-Canada presence rules are separate from the plastic expiry date. Students should read IRCC’s official material before advising anyone on compliance.

The wallet also tracks UCI, name on card, and biometrics metadata in mock form—use those fields in class to discuss data minimization on public screens.

Relates to Immigration status (applications), Citizenship (pathway stories), Passport renewal (citizens only).
